Where Do Ants Come From?

4 Apr

Oh, I know about the birds and the bees and all that jazz, but I will wipe the counter clean, and two seconds later, there is an ant – right in the middle of the counter! I never see them walking from wherever they are sneaking in, so I can put down Terro. They just appear – poof! – out of the air. And never more than two at a time.

Weirdest thing ever. Can ants teleport?

There is something in the water back there! We do not have the same issues with ants in West Virginia. When we lived back there, it was not just one kind of ant, either… We had Carpenter, Thief, Pavement, and some I never could identify. I have come to believe that ancient indigenous people cursed the land when we took it from them. It is just a theory…

In the tropics where I am, I find that ants visit my kitchen more often after a rainy spell. Of course, I must keep all foods away and no droppings of any food remnants, else the ants will be visiting. I recently discovered a useful Chalk against ants. It looks exactly like a chalk piece for the blackboard and I chalk all corners of windows, cabinets etc. It works in keeping away the ants. Also found a lovely concoction of powdered granules in packs of 6s, each sealed in plastic tiny container and I snip it open and leave it in cupboards or edges of windows or kitchen cabinets and it kills cockroaches! I like these anti pest items. Useful for me!
